Dhak Dhak Go...India Go!!

India is a country full of festivals. Country of varied religions. Where every day holds some auspicious value with respect so some religion. So what festival are we going to celebrate this week? Well its equally joyful and equally important to every India! ICC Cricket World Cup 2011!!

Cricket is not just a sport but religion for us. Every little boy leans to play cricket in crowded streets and dreams of becoming Sachin "GOD" Tendulkar someday! Grand Poojas are arranged for good luck in the game. We know our stats by heart and when we our 'Men in Blue' playing, every mother prays for her sons, every sister wishes good for her brothers and every boy cheers for his role model!

This year we have made it to Finals after winning historical match against Pakistan. After all this success, winning over Sri lanka should not be tough. Though they are equally good players. We have all our faiths on our Men. We are going to repeat 1983's victory this time.

Go India Go. The world cup is ours!

Thank u note!

Lovely greetings to lovely people!

N most lovely greetings to one special person if he is reading the blog!

Husband and I had the most agreeable, absolute and attentive chat today. We discussed few very important things about our lives without any conflicting statements. I’m so proud of him about how beautifully he analyzed the issues and came to conclusion.

I love you baby! You are the best thing that has ever happened to me!

Luckiest girl in the whole world,

Piya

Boston Calling!

Hello my sweet ones!

I have Good news! I’m FINALLY going to the US on May 15th! Yeyy!

I know that there are still 47 days to go, but I’m really thrilled! Why? Well, A. Mr. Husband is already there, B. I am ready with my VISA since February and C. due to one or the other (stupid) reasons it was getting delayed from past 3-4 months.

Finally, after surmounting all the obstacles, I can boastfully say that, I’m going to the US!

I have good 6 weeks before I see Mr. Husband. So planning to utilize this time very resourcefully (as always *lame grin*)

  1. I’m going to be happy. No cribbing about anything.
  2. Going to do Yoga 5 days a week. Just to keep myself calm and focused.
  3. Back to my beloved GMAT studies!
  4. Going to eat as much Indian food as I can. Coz I know I’m going to crave for it once I go there.
  5. STOP planning. I spend most of my day planning things and making time-tables. This 6 weeks..I’m gonna chill baby!
  6. One long-super-duper-fun-filled holiday with mum and papa! Awesome enough that I can survive without seeing them for 6-7 months!

Much love,

Piya

Prawns Pulao

I'm still not well. :( The cold has taken away my sense of taste. I so wanted to have something yummy..spicy..tangy..pungent.. yet light on my stomach.

So, Whats better than home made sea-food recipe? Here I am with my own version of Prawns Pulao! Simple to make and oh what a taste!

You will need:

Main:
Medium sized prawns 20-25, Washed and cleaned
Basmati rice 2 cups, previously cooked

Fresh:
Ginger-Garlic paste 1 spoon, preferably home made
Green chillies 2 medium, finely chopped
Onions 1 big, finely chopped
Tomatoes 1 big, finely chopped
Coriander 2 big spoons, finely chopped

Spices:
Chilly powder 1 spoon
Turmeric 1 spoon
Coriander powder 1 spoon

Per taste:
Oil
Salt

How to make it:

1. Marinate prawns with salt, turmeric and 1/2 spoon G-G paste for about 30 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a pan and saute the marinated prawns for about 2-3 minutes. Cook them till they curl and change their color to white. Do not overcook, you don't want chewy-rubbery prawns.
3. Keep the fried prawns on absorbent paper to remove excess oil.

4. Heat oil in a big pan and add GG paste, chopped onion, chopped chillies and turmeric powder to it.
5. Once onions are transparent, add chopped tomatoes to it. Let the tomatoes cook.
6. Add rest of the spices - chilly powder, coriander powder and salt.
7. Add prawns and saute for 3-4 minutes.

8. Add pre-cooked rice to it. Mix well. Season with coriander leaves and let it cook for another 4-5 minutes.
9. Turn off the heat. The delicious aroma will fill your kitchen. But control urself for 15 minutes. Let the rice and prawns soak all spices.
10. Serve hot with curd or raita.

P.S. I cooked it in Microwave. So convert my 'minutes' timing into appropriate stove-cooking-timings! Happy eating!!

Soulmates

Reading Paulo Caoelho's Brida these days. How is the book? Wont go into that. But loved the concept of soul-mates.

"We all know that souls are immortal - neither be created not destroyed. Then, with increasing population, where do the new souls come from? Every time a person dies, her soul gets split up into two parts, male and female. And their soul again divides in two parts at the time of death. So all the people alive on earth today share parts of those ancient souls. So when two people sharing the same root soul meet each other, love happens. And we call them our soulmates"

But what if we meet our soulmate and he/she is very old or very young or someone who you wont fall for in that way? the book doesn't have answer to this. But I guess I do.

Have you came across someone with whom you gel amazingly well in very first meeting? Someone with whom you share all your thoughts and feelings knowing they will be respected? Someone you feel sharing an unseen bond with? A very small interaction with this someone leaves you with pleasure of a long lasted friendship. I would say all these someones' are part of you and you are part of them. You dont feel strange around cause you have been originated from the same soul. You are soulmates.

Though you dont fall in love with these someones but you make a special place for them in your heart and cherish their memories forever. Cause for you, they are very important, they are closest to your heart, they complete you, they compliment you, they understand you like nobody did, they sooth you like nobody does, you know each other from eternity and will stay together till infinity, they will be your part of the universe, your soul, your soulmate.

This post is dedicated to all my soulmates!
